Overview

Intrepid LE Class Starship
The Intrepid Light Explorer (LE) is a Federation-produced interstellar warp speed capable vessel with an intended duration of eighty years. She is engineered for sustained field assignment with resupply every year, for four years. After this time, the starship should be refitted, as strains on the infrastructure may cause incremental or cascading damage. The Intrepid LE carries a standard crew complement of 135, the bulk of whom are enlisted personnel. Passenger space is able to support a small city.

With a length of just over three-hundred and forty meters, the starship is vast enough to allow for a sizeable distance between the drive system and the habitation bulb.  The LE is intended to sustain a steady warp factor or eight, or one-thousand and twenty-four times the speed of light (3.1×108 km/s).  Sustained bursting is possible with the reactor fitted to the vessel at issue, allowing the ship to achieve an emergency velocity of warp nine-point-nine, or roughly six-thousand times the speed of light (1.8×109 km/s).

The Intrepid LE has 15 decks, and is 66 meters tall.

Standard Auxiliary Craft Complement
The LE is equipped with one shuttlebay, which is supported by several bays that are connected thereto.  One standard type-ten shuttlcraft is mounted into an inverted hangar in the overhead of the shuttlebay.  Four short-range type 9 shuttlecraft are included, as well as two type eight craft intended for excursions of a much longer range.  Mounted to the underside of the habitat area of the starship is an aerowing shuttle, intended to be used as an offical services vehicle.

Defensive Capabilities
This class of starship is equipped with a well-fitted and impressive array of defensive weaponry.  Her standard automatically modulating, proton-reactive shielding, coupled with ablative hull armor, serves to make this ship an impenetrable fortress.  When operating with the enhanced metaphasic shielding, scientific exploration may be acheived with greater ease and lesser risk.

Her armory comes standard equipped with twelve fully integrated type IX phaser arrays, fifteen standard photon torpedos, ten quantum torpedos and four tri-cobalt devices.  Her deflector arrray is also configurable to generate other, lower yield devices.

The Intrepid LE is also equipped with holographic emitters arrayed along her hull, allowing her to disguise herself from many sensor systems of today.
