Chief Engineering Officer
Catian, age 45 [67 Catia dating]

Wayland cher (first son) was born into the pride of Dayallan on Catai over 45 standard years ago. Since Catia joined the Federation, the pride of Dayallan has served at the leader of the planet.

Educated in the pride and the Way of the Hunter, Wayland then attended both initial and secondary schools in Hubris (the Standard name for the city, the Catian name is unpronounceable.) While at an early age it was discovered that he could be sustained on non-living food. This revelation changed the direction of his education, from head of pride (a great honor to be sure) to the defense forces of Catia. He served with distinction and received cross training in Astrophysics, Engineering and Military Science. At the request of Star Fleet Intelligence he along with 20 other Catians were sent into the Delta quadrant to act as intelligence gatherers and saboteurs.

Capturing a Jem-Hadar gun ship, Wayland led 5 members of the team in a surprise attack, transporting to a federation Defiant Class ship as he rammed a Jem Hadar Heavy Cruiser with the badly damaged gunboat. He was the only survivor.

In order to recover from his wounds, Wayland was the recipient of cybernetic surgery, since the Catian brain works in such a dissimilar manner from other sentients. After extensive therapy, Wayland was transferred to DS13, and with the discovery of the Vortex, thence transferred to Starfleet Research at Alpha Prime.

Currently he has been transferred to the starship Victory-A, where he is doing oversight on the installation of the latest warp engines, as well as doing oversight and testing on other retrofitted and extant, but upgraded systems.

A gifted musician, Wayland also enjoys reading and metalworking. A master of topu-rhee (Catian fighting) he works out on a daily basis.

Medical Information on this Officer is available to Victory-A CMO and Captain only, by order of the Starfleet Commander. No discretion is to be allowed. In the event WO Wayland is killed, his body will be destroyed and reduced to trace elements.

Because of his physical size and makeup, Wayland wears an abbreviated uniform, lacking most binding elements (Boots, belts, etc.) Although a quadruped, Wayland is able to stand and function upright. His tail is nearly 1/2 the length of his body and is moderately prehensile.

Status: Chief Wayland is technically retired, working directly for Refit Directorate, under combat medical disability. Because of the nature of his rehabilitation he shall only be treated by the Chief Medical officer. The EMH will not be used.

Medical History: Due to genetic rejection of all regeneration techniques, (Racial Trait) Chief Wayland has had cybernetic replacements done, as allowed under the terms of the Catian Treaty and Federation Racial Allowances. This information is Classified Top Secret and shall be held as Eyes Only, Chief Medical Officer, and Commanding Officer, Victory A.

Notes: Species is quadruped, with some prehensile abilities of the tail. Due to the extremely unique nature of the species. Chief Wayland cannot receive standard measures with regards the brain. DO NOT USE Cordical Stimulators or other devices that are designed to do mental intervention. The attempted use of these items will result in the device running into an overload state. Further, do not use telepathic intervention techniques. The linear processing of Catian brains, as well as the fact that they are quadrupeds, can result in a psychotic break in the telepath.

Cybernetic maintenance: A monthly realignment will be needed to keep the prosthetics operating normally. A standard wr-997/X connector will suffice, and the software included with this file will run the realignment. Patient will need to be placed in stasis, grade 1 for the realignment. The process will run for about 3 hours, with the recovery time lasting up to 4 hours. Do not attempt to revive the Chief until the recovery process is completed. The cybernetic feedback resultant can cause uncontrollable muscle stimulation. This will result in the need to rebuild major portions of the facility. (A digital history of the first attempt is included)

Anatomical reference: Both lower/rear limbs, left front forelimb, rib replacement, resultant of flayed chest, cranial cap, and left eye. All systems run in shielded artificial nerve clusters, designed by the Soong Institute.
